How to Handle Half-Term Like a Pro

The half-term holidays will soon be here! It can be a tricky time for busy, working parents but the key to having a great time is to plan a few things to do and enjoy the chance to spend some fun times together. The Telegraph's 23 family days out in London for under £5 is one of the best articles on the thorny problem of entertaining the children in the school holidays without spending a fortune! Full of inspiration and ideas about finding the best open spaces and seeing the amazing sights of London.

Go Out

As the saying goes, 'The best things in life are free!' If you are in London why not take a walk from Little Venice along the Regents Canal. Children will love looking at the brightly painted barges and boats. Wrap up in a scarf and snuggly cashmere beanie and head out.

Stay in

Do some cooking with the kids! OK, we know it can be a little bit messy but it's worth it when you see their happy faces (albeit smeared with pizza). The BBC have put together some great tips for cooking with kids, click here.

Dress Up

Raid the dressing up box and have some fun! Be a pirate or an astronaut or a fairy but also let the kids dress up in your clothes. Put together a selection of scarves, hats gloves and anything you don't wear much and let their imaginations run wild! Children love faux fur so if you're feeling really kind you could let them dress up in your faux fur scarves... and don't forget to join in!

Get Creative

We try not to throw anything away and that's why we sell our faux fur scraps and offcuts to makers and crafters. Children love to sew and glue with faux fur scraps and it will keep them entertained for many an hour this half term. Visit The Helen Moore Scrap Store And finally...

Make time for you!

Get a babysitter, go out on a date night, meet up with friends, see a film. Enjoy a few hours of freedom and then you'll feel ready to throw yourself into half-term activities all over again tomorrow!
